The General Council of Dentists of Spain and the Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas of Portugal have signed the “Oporto Declaration”, a document that defines the strategic institutional cooperation that both organizations will develop with the aim of increasing access for the population of Spain and Portugal to ethical and quality oral health care.

The General Council of Dentists denounces the risks of directly selling splints to patients to treat bruxism

The General Council of Dentists of Spain has denounced to the AEMPS the palpable risks of the direct sale to the patient of discharge splints to treat bruxism without prior diagnosis or supervision of a dentist, urging the agency to review the origin of authorize dental splints as mass-produced health products and, where appropriate, take the appropriate measures to prohibit their direct marketing to patients.

The General Council of Dentists supports SEPES at its Annual Congress

The vice president of the General Council of Dentists, Francisco García Lorente, attended yesterday the opening of the 52nd Annual Congress of SEPES (Spanish Society of Stomatological and Aesthetic Prosthetics) that will take place until October 14 in Valencia.

The Spanish Dental Foundation aims to ensure that 5,000 patients without resources receive free oral care by 2025.

The Spanish Dental Foundation, a non-profit entity linked to the General Council of Dentists of Spain and whose main objective is to promote the oral health of the population, has publicly presented to the media its new corporate image and the next projects that will be to be developed in the last quarter of this year and in 2024.

THE IRRIGADOR

It is an instrument that works by directly applying a jet of water to the teeth and gums. The water comes out under pressure, which helps remove food debris located in areas where the brush does not have access. Its use does not replace tooth brushing or interdental hygiene, but, in many cases, it complements them.

Children who breathe through their mouths may have problems with their oral development.

Oral problems in children are one of the main causes of school absenteeism. For this reason, the General Council of Dentists recommends having a dental check-up before starting classes, which will allow any oral health problem to be diagnosed early and solved in time.
