One study suggests a correlation between foot posture and changes in the mouth

There is a link between the way children walk and their dental problems. At least this is what scientists from the University of Málaga (Spain) say in an article in the scientific journal Medecin. What they did was observe for five years 200 children between six and nine years, which allowed them to draw certain conclusions.

They observed that about half of the boys who had an advanced lower jaw (protrusion of the jaw) also stepped in (pronated tread). Meanwhile, in the opposite case, the correlation was 100%: those who presented this problem in the tread had protrusion of the jaw.

Although these results (in isolation) may not say much, the researchers point out that the development of this line of work can find alternative forms of treatment. "For example, one could assess if the problem is the opposite, from the jaw to the feet," said Gabriel Gijón, one of the authors of the article, consulted by foreign media. He also considered that extending the analysis to other age groups would allow "knowing to what extent the treatment of one of these two alterations would condition the other."
