The General Council of Dentists recommends the use of a mask in dental clinics
Given the increase in infections due to influenza A and Covid-19, the Collegiate Organization supports the indication of several autonomous communities that both professionals and patients use masks in health centers, which include dental consultations.

In recent weeks there has been a substantial increase in the cumulative incidence of influenza A, Covid-19 and other respiratory infections. As physicians committed to public health, from the General Council of Dentists we recommend to the population the importance of annual flu vaccination and the application of the booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and we encourage all dentists to promote actively these measures among its staff and also among patients.

In this context, Dr. Óscar Castro Reino, president of the General Council of Dentists, shows his support for the temporary measures that several autonomous communities have implemented, such as the mandatory use of masks in health centers: “In view of the situation current, and appealing to the responsibility of all professionals who work in dental clinics and health centers, we call on the medical and auxiliary staff, as well as the patients who attend them, to use masks. Likewise, if signs of contagion are seen, and as long as it is not an emergency, it is recommended to postpone the appointment until later.”

The president of the General Council of Dentists continues by stating that "the adoption of these measures will contribute to individual protection, but also to collective security, providing a safer environment in the dental field and preventing the spread of respiratory infections."

In this way, the General Council of Dentists reiterates its commitment to public health and shows its collaboration with the Ministries and the Ministry of Health to address this situation.
