Oral health is essential for the well-being of people and an important factor in the overall health of the population. The early identification of oral diseases can contribute to the early diagnosis and treatment of other systemic diseases.
In this sense, daily care is the main prevention to enjoy good health and quality of life:
- Brush your teeth at least 3 times a day. The most important brushing is at night.
- Flossing should be used every day and be part of the daily routine, not just when the person feels they need a deeper clean.
- It is important to look closely to see that the teeth are well cleaned.
- Avoid biting ice, hard candies, nougats and any food or hard material as they can break the teeth.
- Visit the dentist once a year, even if you don't have any discomfort. Early detection of caries is preferable.
- If there is a predilection for sweets, it is important to group them at times of consumption of foods with sugars.
- If after a meal the person cannot brush their teeth, it is advisable to eat sugarless gum. Stimulates saliva generation and helps clean teeth.
- If the person is a lover of mate, it is recommended not to use a thermos, but a kettle. The thermos causes mate to be consumed for a longer time, causing the saliva to become acidic and end up affecting the teeth.
- If you have crooked or uneven teeth, it is important to do some treatment to align them. Having the teeth in order improves the bite and facilitates dental hygiene.
